I m a writer, teacher and journalist, the author of six novels and six non fiction books Many of my early books were inspired by the 12 years I spent in Botswana, where I worked as a teacher, award winning journalist and newspaper editor My recent books draw on the stories and history of London These include The Ghost of Lily Painter, based on the true story of two Edwardian baby farmers, and Family Likeness, inspired in part by the life of Dido Elizabeth Belle Britain s first black aristocrat Many of my books have a swimming theme, such as Taking the Waters, about the bathing ponds and lido on Hampstead Heath, and Downstream a history and celebration of swimming the River Thames, which led to the first swimming showcase at the Museum of London. My latest non fiction is Bad Girls A History of Rebels Renegades, to be published by John Murray on March 8th, 2018 My latest novel is Daisy Belle Swimming Champion of the World, based on the lives of several Victorian aquatic stars, to be published by Unbound on September 1st, 2018.As a journalist I was a regular feature writer for The Independent s education and careers supplement From 2014 17 I worked as a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the University of Westminster, Harrow, in the faculty of Media, Arts Design.

Full of intrigue, familiar London locations and characters you feel you know I laughed out loud in many places and took a sharp intake of breath in others I found it hard to put down, and Caitlin writes so well it is effortless to read as are all her books I highly recommend it.
