I enjoyed this installment a lot than the first I think now that we are introduced to all of the characters, the story finally has room to expand and move It seems that Tea, the bone witch, hovers between being a villain and a hero, and there s a love story brewing that I cheered for, as I ship these two characters together very much The bard s story makes sense in this installment, but it is an odd mesh of future and present that I still don t know if it works for me The world has been expand [...]

This is one of those books where I think I will need to skim re read the first book again to remember what happened Because I read the first book well over a year ago and so everything is a bit of a blur. While I liked the original blue cover, I think I like this new gray white red themed one And thankfully, it still matches the overall theme they had going to the first book.

Unfortunately this second instalment in The Bone Witch series was such a disappointment for me when compared with the first book Which is such a shame as I absolutely LOVED the first one with a passion, wrote it a glowing review, have been recommending it to everyone, and have been eagerly waiting to see what would happen next for about year and a half Now I wouldn t say this was a BAD book It s perfectly fine It s alright It just didn t at all match up to my fierce love of the first book I ve s [...]

A solid second book in this series, but not better than the original This self comparison is always the struggle when looking at fantasy series Chupeco built her world even clearly here, defining many important relationships and deepening the examination of political intrigue The past perspective of this book kept me intrigued and reading, but the current story line , told from the Bard s point of view, often lost my attention Unlike the first book, where the Bard s portions were brief and main [...]

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and this one did not disappoint I know a lot of people had issues with the slowness of the first, and the pacing was better in this one There is still the two narratives going, Tea s story from the past and then the Bard s tale from the present, which in this book got a little confusing, mostly because the two stories are beginning to catch up with each other, which made it a little harder to keep separate, but I still like seeing the two parts and [...]

While I do my best to NOT spoil a book, The Heart Forger isn t due out until March of this year please read with caution I ll be blatantly honest I was not looking forward to reading this book Why The first book I read The Bone Witch last year around this time actually and was pretty disappointed with it Normally when I know a book is included in a series, I try to be gracious with the first book it s laying the groundwork essentially for the rest Lots of names, lots of places, lots of things th [...]

5 5 stars Thank you, Usij Oh If it were not for your Savul, my brother would not have been killed, and I could have lived the rest of my life oblivious to my true abilities You are the reason I am standing here, and I am the reason you will die today I really loved The Bone Witch and The Heart Forger did not disappoint The book picked up right where The Bone Witch left off, alternating from the present,Tea raising the daeva to go to war,to the past, Tea in her story to the bard. The royals in som [...]

For reviews visit glimpsesofmybooksI enjoyed The Bone witch But I LOVED The Heart Forger This book was nothing short of amazing I expected it to be good, I did not expected it to rock my world I finished reading it at about 2 30 am and then re read all the quotes and passages I marked I use Post it flags, in case you wondering It was THAT good I know I convinced some of you sunnies to give The Bone Witch a try via my Instagram, so if you haven t read it yet, stop at the end of this paragraph It [...]

A special thanks to NetGalley for sending me an ARC of this book Last year I was pretty damned stoked about reading THE BONE WITCH by Rin Chupeco I really do love me some witch mythologies, and even though it sounded like it was higher fantasy than I can usually tolerate, I went ahead and gave it a whirl And yeah, it was a little high fantasy than I like But I really liked Tea, the dark asha who has the ability to resurrect the dead I liked it enough that I was really excited to read the second [...]

The Heart Forger continues Tea s story right where we left off in the first book In this continuation, we still see the same double style with the present future in italics told by a bard with the bone witch and the brunt of the book in normal font of Tea s past, which leads up to the italicized present future It had been a while since I read the first book, and I quickly learned that I needed to remember of the first book than I did, so I went back and reread it These books definitely need to [...]

Considering that it had been a while since I had read the first book, I struggled a bit to recall the different elements of the story and the connections between the different characters But once I refreshed my memory, I was able to really enjoy the story. This novel was a lot action packed than the first book, which would please a lot of people who had struggled with the slower pace of The Bone Witch I liked that the story expanded beyond the Memoirs of a Geisha flow because it allowed me to co [...]

I first discovered Rin Chupeco by catching an interesting spine title amidst a clutter of other books The Girl in the Well fascinated me immensely Ever since then there has not been a book yet by this wonderful author that I have not devoured The Heart Forger starts where we last left off Tea is regaling the Bard with the tale of how she came to be the dark asha who commands terrifying daeva We are carried along with him in this tale of intrigue, hardship, and even love It s a wild ride of ups a [...]

I got this ARC from Sourcebooks Fire in exchange for an honest review and let me tell you, I m so glad I did It was a ride and so intense, from start to finish The character development is great not only Tea grows, makes mistakes and learns about herself through this book, we also see of all of the side characters we were introduced to in the first book It s feel like a proper gang and I can t help but loving them and their interaction And the parts that the bard narrates basically breaks my he [...]

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review I have read a lot of reviews of this book series that complain that the plot is too complicated, with too many characters, and it moves too slowly I can see their point In the beginning of the first book, I was lost for quite awhile This is a complex world with a lot of characters to remember and that takes time to develop That being said, I was still intrigued the entire time and didn t want to put it down This world fascinates me [...]

I probably enjoyed this book as much is the first The characters had already been developed inThe Bone Witch, so most of the development was building up on that foundation I found that Rin Chupeco managed to maintain the surprise through the text, building up to what may not be a grand reveal but still moderately surprising nonetheless I found myself questioning the characters, attempting to decide certain facts before they were revealed, and I was still pleasantly surprised and happy when they [...]

    Tori
From my review on FangirlNation The Heart Forger is a complicated book, but entirely worth the ride If you haven t read The Bone Witch, start there first Otherwise, Tea s capabilities and her relationships with other major characters are going to make little to no sense In fact, if you ve read The Bone Witch, but it s been a while, I d suggest rereading it so you have a great place to start Coming into The Heart Forger is a bit like coming back into Game of Thrones after a few seasons when you r [...]

Tea knows that as a Bone Witch, she is able to raise the dead She can now take a life and then return life, but will she use this power for the greater good or for her own vengeance She has the power to use the daeva for her own purposes will she go after the royals who took away her true love Of course, revenge is never easy and there are people who want to stop Tea and use her power for their own dark purposes In the end, can anyone really come out on top The Heart Forger is the second book in [...]

Loved Bone Witch, thought Heart Forger was actually a much stronger book Continuing with the short this is happening now sections narrated by the Bard, the reader gets to go What when did that happen before getting the backstory as seen through our favourite Bone Witch, Tea Lots of very clever misdirection throughout Won t give any story away here, if you haven t read The Bone Witch then you dont care go read it and if you have then the only thing you need to know is that Rin Chupeco has most de [...]

The pacing issues that marred my enjoyment of the first novel are entirely a thing of the past in this installment of the series Chupeco picks up the story where she left off and runs with it We see of the secondary characters, including the flaws they hid in the first novels As before, the story alternates between the Bard s POV from the present and Tea s POV in the past, which offers a nice give and take between foreshadowing and revealing the events.

    Allison
This is an exciting second installment I believe The Heart Forger is better than the first book It has action, character development, romance, and magic It has left me anxiously waiting for third book Thank you to Netgalley for providing this ARC for an honest review.
