This book took me by surprise It s not at all the kind of story I read but it drew me in so deeply I had to keep reading After a bungled suicide attempt, the seriously injured woman is pulled from the sea and taken to the nearest doctor, Ian Carrick, who runs a local asylum.Once here Ian names her Selena and very quickly the reader is drawn into the strange world the reclusive Ian has created and the most unlikely cast of characters Ian, shot by a jealous husband bargains with God to allow him t [...]

This book was hard from me to put down from the first page Without giving anything away, it starts out with a young woman who ends up losing her memories from a head injury She is taken to an asylum, where Dr Ian Carrick a reclusive doctor takes care of her.The group, as the author refers to them, of inmates not knowing her name, dub her Selena Selena has to relearn everything about life, her mind set is like that of a child Like, for instance, fire bad. While Selena is relearning everything she [...]

After reading Magic Hour I ran out and bought every book by Kristin Hannah at the used bookstore I could lay my hands on I absolutely loved Magic Hour However, Waiting for the Moon was a bit of a disappointment it was obviously written when the author was younger and less experienced as a writer The plot was good a great premise for a story, I thought but the writing itself shouted novice and the dialogue was cheesy and quite unbelievable in parts The characters have a hard time staying in chara [...]

Early book by this authorI have read other, later books which have been better This almost borders on fantasy, very few details drawn except for the asylum, the home of Ian Carrick A beautiful she was rescued from the Atlantic ocean and her face and head are battered young woman is brought to Dr Carrick for treatment She does not recover her memory, but the author creates scenarios where she does recall certain things that she has learned in life The intention is to clearly have the doctor fall [...]

I don t usually care for historical novels and wasn t expecting this story from Kristin Hannah I have only discovered her work over the last year or so, so I have a lot of catching up to do I thought this book was very unusual with lots of twists and turns that I wasn t expecting I kept hoping the end would work out as it did, but really didn t know until the end I really enjoyed it.

Wow, I started this book last night and I finished this morning I ve read most of KH s books and I m a big fan This wasn t one of her best book, but I would say the plot was good, the characters unique and the the last part of the book was unexpected A definitely feel good book.

Her later books are much better.

I liked the story line of this one but it was a bit slow in places making you wonder if it was going anywhere Also did not care for the ending which was a surprise since I usually like books by Kristin Hannah The story is about a doctor who has become a recluse in his home due to an accident where now if he touches someone he can read their thoughts He is living with his mother who has good days and others where she lives in her own world, Johann who has syphilis, Lara who is still a little girl [...]

I loved this book When I got to the end I realized I had read it a long time ago So, I enjoyed it just as much a second time The characters were wonderfully made and developed They made me laugh out loud The love story between Sabrina and Ian is lovely and I could feel it as it grew.Kristin Hannah is one of my very favorite authors She is gifted with the stories she tells in such a way you feel like you are one of the characters.

This book about a doctor and a brain damaged woman started out slow but it picked up around the middle of the book and then I couldn t put it down Ian and Selena fall in love but there are complications of a personal nature I found the other characters in the book quite fascinating Good read.

Faith hope love, three words that make life worth living And yet sometimes that is not enough and yet choices that need to be made make the worng one and our life doesn t feel worthy of living This story is one of the best I have read in a very long time, it made you think not just of the people outlined in the story but of your own life A need to be loved by that person who is the other half of your self A tragic accident that unfolds to a beautiful story of make believe vs reality What is real [...]

It reads OK but it seems to move very slowly forward I like the premise quite a bit When I found out where she had come from, I was surprised Also, I don t think this is the way that particular religious sect behaved but would have to look into that to know for sure It IS rather dark but I guess that s OK Sometimes life is, This is after all America and we always want a happy ending life doesn t always give us that It is pretty predictable Its hard to say the characters are developed but they ar [...]

this is one of kristin hannah s earlier novels, which involved historical fictions with elements of the supernatural and destiny i ve read several of hannah s contemporary fictions, and i found this refreshing, as authors tend to follow a formula in their story tellingis novel really centers around the destined true love between two very different people, and the challenges they face to be together within themselves and outside forces even when it seems utterly hopeless it also takes up the ide [...]

Wow I was surprisingly pleased by this early book by Kristin Hannah because it had a romance fantasy element that is not present in her later books.Set in Maine in 1882, Dr Ian Carrick is forced to return to his medical past when a lobster fisherman brings an unconscious woman with serious brain injuries to his home also housing asylum patients including his mother one night Intrigued by the mysteries surrounding his patient, Ian feels that this might just be the case he needs to be accepted in [...]

Fabulous It reminded me of Daphne Du Maurier s Rebecca Deep, a little Dark, but so satisfying Set in the 1880 s, it explores what they considered mental illness and medicine A lady comes to this hidden, dark house full of the insane totally without memory, or even, at the beginning, speaking It s amazing to watch the entire household change because of this one lady It makes you look at your life and how you view things I almost put it down the first 1 3 of the book, because it is dark, but it ha [...]

This was the first novel I ve read by this author and I thought it was a really unique story of love and healing I enjoyed all of the characters and really grew to like them, have compassion for them Great suspense not knowing who the injured woman was for the first two thirds of the book and watching the doctor fall in love with her The author really focused on the character interaction, which was good, but I mainly got the book because it was set in Maine She didn t focus on setting hardly at [...]

I enjoyed reading this book as it was different than any I ve read before Of course it follows the classic format for a romance novel, but the situations were far stranger than I ve read I didn t buy or borrow this book My grandkids must ve got it out of a free box at the library and thought I would like it I don t think I would have a problem if either one of them picked it up and read it when they become teenagers I will put it out in my yard sale next spring as it s just not a keeper for me, [...]
