This book is classified as Young Adult Christian Amish Fiction, but would easily be enjoyed by adults as well It is a quick easy read that will keep you turning the pages as the story unfolds The author begins each chapter with a scripture that becomes the theme of that chapter, which makes it ideal for teaching the relevance of scripture in our everyday lives I especially like the way the truth of scripture is used within the story to stress that salvation is a gift through God s grace alone, r [...]

Edited to add a star When I realized this was classified as young adult literature, I thought it needed an extra star While the storyline had potential, I just found all the characters incredibly flat and uninteresting The struggles in Joanna s life were all resolved way too easily.

I just discovered this author and so when I found out she had an Amish Girls series, I thought I would read them to see if they might be something our 12 year old daughter might enjoy Yes, she might I got a book that has the first four books in it, so it looks thick, but book one, Joanna s Struggle, was only about 110 pages and it was jam packed full of action Again, I love how the author weaves the Truth of salvation in Jesus throughout her stories Once again, no time wasted She s definitely on [...]

I picked up this book for my daughter when she asked to learn about the Amish It s ok written for tweens with a heavy Christian agenda I can t figure out if the author is trying to belittle the Amish way of life a bit with the questioning of salvation.

I was disappointed to get to the end of this book The writing was clear and concise and the story was interesting I was fully engaged I would have loved to read about several of the other characters and found myself wishing that the book would just go on and on.
