A sort of a Canadian cozy The plot is engaging, the characters also, but what I liked especially was the background information about life in Prince Edward County Upper Canada in the mid 1800s.

Great Read I ve read the first book On The Head Of A Pin in this series and really enjoyed it but this, the second book is even better I was born and raised in Belleville and spent a lot of time in my youth hunting, fishing, swimming and partying all over Quinte s Isle and it is sure great to read a super mystery novel with a setting of places and landscape that I recognize and where I have walked quite a few years after the time of this story I have a friend who lives in Bloomfield for those no [...]

Ms Kellough has, once again, written a splendid Thaddeus Lewis novel Set in a region with which I m than familiar I grew up there , Janet has woven an intriguing 19th century mystery populated by some very interesting characters all well fleshed out except for one, who seems to be missing some flesh and not bound by any conventions around eating some The author has than obviously done her due diligence around the accuracy of the history and geography and people of the area in which she sets he [...]

Historical mysteries set in rural 1840s Ontario are fun to read Kellough has a nice style, and developed the mystery quite well, though it was sometimes difficult to follow the context she was laying Although the main character is still a Methodist minister, he s now retired and the role of the church and religious sensibilities played much less of the role in this book I like the religious edge in her first book I bought the trilogy in the ebook format, so on to the next one
